【大波特兰华人社团联合声明】
对于近期发生的一系列针对亚裔的仇恨攻击事件，我们深感痛心并提出强烈的谴责。
遵纪守法勤劳苦干的亚裔人，为这个国家的发展做出了不可磨灭的贡献，却因为疫情受到歧视和攻击。统计显示，2020年针对亚裔的仇恨犯罪率增加了近150%。小至升斗市民，大至篮球好手、电影明星以及CNN主持人皆无法幸免。这不但伤害了亚裔，也伤害了我们的社区，伤害了这个国家，伤害了人类文明。仇恨对社会的破坏更甚于病毒。
任何的暴力都不可以被接受，所有的仇恨必须立即停止，一切的歧视行为必须受到制裁。而且，我们敦促政府积极采取行动，追究事件肇事人的责任，并制定完善的政策和措施，保护亚裔人的合法权益不受侵犯。同时呼吁我们的成员相互守望，相互支持，勇于发声，敢于抵制。携手其他族裔与歧视和仇恨作坚决的斗争，让仇恨、暴力和歧视失去生存的空间。
We are deeply distressed and strongly condemn the recent series of hate crimes against Asian Americans and residents.
Law-abiding, diligent and hardworking Asians have made indelible contributions to the prosperity of this country, but they have been discriminated against and attacked because of the COVID pandemic. According to statistics, anti-Asian hate crimes increased by nearly 150% in 2020，target from ordinary citizens to basketball players, movie stars, and CNN show hosts.
This has not only hurt Asians, but also all communities in this country. Such a discrimination is a shame of human civilization. Hatred destroys our society more than viruses.
No violence is acceptable; all hate crimes must be stopped immediately; and all discriminatory behaviors must be sanctioned. Moreover, we urge the government and government officials to be proactive and hold the perpetrators responsible, and develop sound policies and measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Asians from violent crimes. At the same time, we call on the members of our community to watch out for each other; support each other; we must speak up and resist any discrimination. Hand in hand with all ethnic groups to fight for justice. We believe strongly that discrimination and hatred, have no room in human society.
